Hectic schedule? Here’s how to take time for yourself

Taking a moment for yourself isn't always easy if you have a busy lifestyle, a chaotic household, or a tiresome job. Taking time for yourself is a priority that most people neglect. That’s why we are here to bring you some top tips for taking a moment with Horlicks, whether you have 5 minutes, an hour, or a day to spare!

How to take a moment with Horlicks when you have 5 minutes:

Making a drink during a stressful work day gives you a few minutes of freedom and peace, but we want you to take it a step further and go beyond just the usual cup of tea. That’s right, treat yourself to a Horlicks next time you’re having a brew break. Take a couple of extra minutes to whip up a comforting treat.

To brighten up your normal working day take 5 minutes for yourself every day, and make yourself a cold or warm Horlicks (we suggest iced Horlicks for summer days). Or enjoy playing your favourite song, or listen to a five-minute podcast.

Think of the small parts of your daily routine in a positive way and treat them as opportunities to prioritise yourself. Hopefully giving you that little boost you need and leaving you with a positive mental attitude for the rest of the day.

For summer days, follow these steps to make iced Horlicks:

🧋Add 3-4 tablespoons of your chosen Horlicks flavour into a shaker.

🧋Add 300ml of milk and lots of ice cubes.

🧋Shake it up and enjoy the refreshing malty deliciousness.

You could even text a friend and let them know how to make a Horlicks!

How to take a moment with Horlicks when you have 10 minutes:

If you struggle to get out of bed in the morning, but still want to start your day off feeling fresh, then we have the perfect solution for you. Use those extra 10 minutes before bed to make yourself a yummy breakfast that will entice you to start your day..

Horlicks creamy overnight oats recipe is energy-packed and super easy to make. Simply mix together oats, almonds, sliced apricots, Horlicks Original, and coconut flakes into a bowl, then pour on the almond milk and stir. Cover with a lid and leave to soak in the fridge overnight. In the morning, your irresistible breakfast will await you!

We suggest stirring in some skyr yoghurt to add to the creaminess. For an immunity boost, sprinkle on some pumpkin seeds and chopped pistachios.

P.S don’t forget Horlicks malted drinks are also packed with 14 vitamins and minerals, so this isn’t just a tasty breakfast, it is also great for your well-being!

How to take a moment with Horlicks when you have 30 minutes:

Finding 30 minutes in your busy day can seem difficult to manage, but incorporating mindfulness steps into your daily routine will allow you to see positive changes in your mental and physical well-being. Eliminating stress from your mind will also make you more productive in your day-to-day tasks.

To take a moment with Horlicks we want you to practice mindfulness. Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment.

The benefits of this practice include relieving stress, lowering blood pressure, improving sleep, improving mental health, and much more.

There are 5 basics of mindfulness practice:

1: Mindful Breathing.

2: Concentration.

3: Awareness of Your Body.

4: Releasing Tension.

5: Walking Meditation.

To find out more about what each mindfulness practice entails and how you can incorporate it into your life, read Thich Nhat Hanh’s article “Five Steps to Mindfulness”.

How to take a moment with Horlicks when you have 60 minutes:

Do you have a big weekend coming up? Want to impress your family and friends with your baking skills, but can’t seem to find the time to look up new recipes and don’t want to revert back to the over-done banana bread? Look no further! The Horlicks website is full of easy-to-create, sweet and savoury recipes.

For an especially easy baking recipe that will impress your guests, try our mouth-watering carrot cake. We all love cake recipes but the malty Horlicks flavour that has been infused into the classic carrot cake and cream cheese frosting, will make it stand out. Now blast some feel-good tunes, grab your apron and get baking!

Taking the time to bake from scratch will have your sense of achievement through the roof (especially with all the compliments you’re going to get on your baking skills!)

How to take a moment with Horlicks when you have 120 minutes:

Does 2 hours sound like a long time? Think of it this way - it’s just 2 out of the 48 hours you have over the weekend. And 2 hours spent focused on making yourself happy really is worth it, we promise.

We challenge you to get outside and visit somewhere you haven't been before. Whether that's a nearby park that you never seem to find time to go to or a reservoir that you have only ever seen pictures of. You could even bring a book with you (check out our “Top Five Reads You Can Enjoy With A Horlicks” blog if you're struggling for inspiration.) Or, if you have any sweet treats left over from your baking session, you could pack a small picnic.

We hope this has made you realise how taking time for yourself can fit into your daily routine, but still make a big impact on your mental wellbeing.
